Pedro Henrique, 17, has been in the project since he was 12 years old. He told the team:
“My dream is to finish my studies and take a course in Physical Education and then become a Jiu jitsu teacher to teach here in our community.”
He arrived at the project full of dreams but also with many problems. His mother was once very afraid of him going a very different route with his life, she worried he would end up in a gang. Today she is the mother of a focused young man with a bright future.
The sad scenario we live in today in our community where children and teenagers are being pushed into drug trafficking and child prostitution, the sport of Jiu-Jitsu has been a way to prevent the risk and social vulnerability that many have faced.
