Good evening everyone,
We’ve been busy following up on the incredible work done by Team Toucan and are preparing to share more about how God has used them. However, tonight I’m reaching out with an urgent prayer request on behalf of the PBP team.
Some of you have participated in recent prayer meetings with the team, which have deeply moved them. Tonight, they are asking for your prayers once again regarding a critical situation.
Recently, a grant enabled vital renovations at the Safe House, including the installation of a solar panel system to provide electricity. When it was time to switch to this new system, the electricity company was called to perform the necessary work, including changing the meter. Unfortunately, during this process, the company accused the Safe House of electricity theft.
As a result, the Safe House has been disconnected from the electricity supply. The company is demanding that 70% of the alleged debt be paid before they will restore power. The total amount claimed is R$11,000 (around £1,500)—a sum the project cannot afford to use like this.
The team is adamant that these accusations are false, and our supporting lawyer is already working to challenge this legally. However, the electricity company remains unyielding. There are currently 17 children and their carers at the Safe House who are affected by this. No showers, no lights, no computers, or devices able to charge.
Please pray fervently that the electricity company will be reasonable and restore power while this issue is resolved. We are also asking for prayers that God will intervene and overrule this situation, as we struggle to understand how this could even be legal.
